Report on Assam Reunion 2012
17th April 2012
On a wet and windy typical April spring morning Dacre welcomed 71 attendees to this years re-union. While this number may seem disappointing in fact 84 had sent acceptances but 13 had been unable to attend for one reason or another and sent their good wishes and hoped to make future events.
Dacre extended a very warm welcome to the 28 members of the younger generation. Their support for this event is much valued
Sadly the following deaths had been reported during the last 12 month: Stanley Melling, John Darby, Olive Anderson, John Kent, Jimmy Foster, Bob Frost, Joe Mathews, Mary Wheatcroft. Our thoughts are with their families and friends.
The meeting recorded its thanks to Clive Roberson for the twice yearly newsletter, David Air for all his work with the Koi-Hai web site and David Kincaid for spending much of the lunch period photographing attendees.
Tina Eyton- Jones gave a short talk, accompanied by photographs projected by her partner Simon Richards, of their trip to Koliabur Tea estate in the Misa district where her father David Eyton- Jones was the manager in the late 50's and early 60's and where Tina lived until she was 9.
Thanks were accorded to The Hydro hotel for the excellent arrangements and service the reunion had received.
Next year's Assam Reunion has been arranged for Tuesday 16th April 2013.
