Extensive Mining Problems
Duncan Allan tells us that there has been Worldwide criticism of Bundupani TE in the world press which prompted Duncan to make enquires to find out the truth
These enquiries show that extensive mining of Dolomite in Bhutan has caused the rise in the level of riverbeds, resulting in wide spread flooding. The flood waters are alkaline, and in the case of Bundupani it has killed out much of the tea and hence the abandonment of the garden.
Duncan visited the Dalgoan district in 2008, and witnessed the expansion of mining in the foothills of Bhutan.
